NEWS: Kitten rescued from storm drain in Colorado community

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKTV) – A kitten in Grand Junction has eight lives to go after it was rescued from a storm drain Monday!

It was the second animal rescue in two days for the Grand Junction Fire Department, which rescued several ducklings over the weekend.

“We don’t just rescue ducklings from storm drains … sometimes it’s kittens, too!” the fire department wrote in a social media post. “This curious kitten found itself in a tight spot — stuck deep in a storm drain. But thanks to the quick action of Good Samaritans, Grand Junction Police Department Animal Control, and your Grand Junction Fire Department, this furry friend made it out safe and sound.”

And just in the nick of time, with rain in the forecast!

The fire department had previously noted that springtime meant more animal rescues.

“Springtime means more wildlife out and about, especially duck families on the move. If you see ducklings in distress or stuck in storm drains, don’t hesitate to call us. We’re here to help ALL members of our community — even the fluffy, feathered kind!”

Or furry kind!
